The First Consortium Graduates

On Sept. 30, 2021, OPS Museum Protection Officers Bassie Kanu, Jimmy Rivera, and Ronald Gaskins became NZP Police Officers upon graduation from the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area’s Campus Public Safety Institute (CPSI). Established to train and certify law enforcement personnel within DC area campuses, CPSI specializes in law enforcement in educational settings, teaching models of community policing to foster collaboration, equality, and an individual-centered focus. This approach to law enforcement empowers officers to build trust and relationships within their communities as they prevent crime. The OPS Training Academy plans to continue to enroll OPS staff in this new and exciting program.
