Associate Director for Physical Security & Risk Management

Hugh F. Meehan, Jr.

Hugh F. Meehan, Jr. is responsible for the oversight of the SI Security Risk Management (assessment and mitigation) Program, Identity Management Program, Anti-terrorism Programs, the OPS Capital Improvement Program, the OPS Maintenance Budget, and Technical Security Division. 

Before this, Mr. Meehan managed security related design and construction projects to protect the National Collections, staff, and visitors for OPS. He coordinated the effort with the Office of Planning, Design, and Construction to plan, direct, and control security upgrade projects and manage project development and implementation. Mr. Meehan directed OPS activities associated with the SI-wide Security Risk Management Program, which included planning, scheduling, and completing all risk assessments of SI facilities and assets. Through this program, he was directly responsible for identifying and recommending operational mitigation measures based on the assessment results against federal requirements and best practices. 

Mr. Meehan has over 35 years of experience as a physical security specialist in both the private and public sector.
